Music salutes military and veterans is trending big now as in 2017, especially before the end of the year. The common thread — to raise awareness and funds for our veterans — while each musical effort is for varying charitable factions of the whole. We take a look back to our feature from 2017 in honor of Veteran’s Day. There were a flurry of benefit concerts and albums devoted to our veterans. Socially Sparked News spotlights a few of these. March 2020 brings the return of events from Wall Street Rocks. We’ll keep you posted.
“The number of men and women who have donned our country’s uniform and served multiple tours of combat duty is the largest in modern American history. We owe them a huge debt, and we can repay it by remembering their sacrifices and providing the resources for them to achieve the American Dream.” — Debbie Gregory, CEO of MilitaryConnection.com
Tonight brings a pre-recorded national broadcast of the concert special: Guitar Legends For Heroes Benefit Concert (in support of our military and veterans). The Special was filmed last month at NYC’s Terminal 5 featuring some of the world’s best guitarists — to thank our military, veterans and their loved ones for their sacrifices — while raising funds for the high impact charities that support them.
Guitar legends include Trace Adkins, Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi), Dave Navarro (Jane’s Addiction), Nancy Wilson (Heart) and many others. The Show includes a tribute to late music legend Gregg Allman (The Allman Brothers). For TV schedule visit: www.musicforheroesconcert.org/schedule.php

MARCUS GOLDHABER'S 'CARRY YOU ON'
Noted recording artist Marcus Goldhaber recently released a new benefit album Carry You On to take aim to bridge the gap between vets and civilians beyond a ‘simple thank you.’ The album dropped on Veterans Day.
Half of the album sales’ proceeds directly support Iraq Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), a non-partisan, non-profit which similarly seeks to connect, unite and empower post-9/11 veterans, while strengthening the civilian-veteran bond
Carry You On offers a compelling collection of story-based songs as told to Goldhaber first-hand by veterans. Created to open new windows into the everyday lives of military and veterans and their families, the songs are the culmination of an ongoing mission started five years ago by Goldhaber to deepen the discussion beyond “Thank You for Your Service.”
Goldhaber aims to strengthen the civilian-veteran dialogue and broaden the national conversation about veterans through music. The benefit album clearly illustrates how the discussion hardly ends with “Thank you for your service.” Furthering that conversation between civilians and military veterans is the true challenge.
Carry You On is available on iTunes, Spotify and Deezer. To purchase where a portion is donated to the cause, visit www.marcusgoldharber.com
