Uptown eateries shine during Harlem Restaurant Week in New York City. The ‘Uptown Feast’ as it is known runs from August 19th thru September 1st. There are over 40 participating restaurants.
Harlem Restaurant Week is an exciting collaboration among the organizers of Harlem’s most successful culinary themed events. Over 40 neighborhood restaurants and night spots all around Harlem’s are participating this year. Diners are destined to discover delectable and cultural gems wherever they travel to: east side, west side or central Harlem.
The International Flair is clearly evident Harlem’s culinary offerings. One can find everything from comfort food, latin, caribbean and southern to Cuban and more! We spotlight a few of the restaurants that have Socially Sparked® our palettes for close to a century.
RED ROOSTER HARLEM – was named in honor of the legendary Harlem speakeasy that attracted neighborhood folk, jazz greats and noteworthy figures of the 20th century from Adam Clayton Powell Jr. to Nat King Cole and James Baldwin. Co-Creators are Andrew Chapman and Marcus Samuelsson. The restaurant serves comfort food that celebrates the roots of American cuisine and the neighborhood’s diverse culinary traditions. Looking for live music? Downstairs is one of NYC’s best kept secrets — Ginny’s Supper Club — a classic Harlem speakeasy with live performances and world renowned cuisine and cocktails.
SYLVIA’S REStAURANT– “The Queen of Soul Food” dates back to 1962 when it was founded by Sylvia Woods. Sylvia’s serves authentic soul food and continues to be a community favorite and culinary must for foodies.
