Here comes the Missy Elliott pop-up museum to delight fans with the ultimate interactive experience. In advance of Monday’s Video Music Awards (VMAs), Pepsi and MTV are presenting a weekend-long experiential “Pop-Up Museum of Missy Elliott.” The weekend events are in celebration of the VMAs and its Honoree — Missy Elliott — who will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
The museum will highlight the Grammy Award-winning rapper’s genius artistic fashion stylings and her famed iconic music videos, plus pay homage to some of the artist’s most creative visionaries. Those visionaries include: June Ambrose, Hype Williams, Dave Myers, HiHat, Billy B and Gloria Elias-Foeillet.
The Museum of Missy Elliott will be a ticketed event, located at 632 Broadway in NYC. Opening Saturday, August 24th from 11am-7pm and ending Sunday, August 25th 11am-6pm. According to Page Six, tickets for the 2-day event was so sought after, it sold out in 60 seconds.
The lucky fans will get the chance to take pictures against backdrops from Elliott’s music videos and try on her iconic “trash bag dress” from “The Rain” music video (created by costume designer June Ambrose).
If you are a Missy Elliott fan and weren’t able to buy a ticket, at least you can watch her perform on Monday, August 26 at MTV’s VMAs. And, more good news is the iconic artist who has Socially Sparked® our lives for decades will be honored with the Video Vanguard Award! — Abbe is Socially Sparked! — Tweet @asparks01 & @sosparkednews
