Teacher Trivia

Today we say Thank You virtually with a triple exclamation mark to the outstanding teachers we know that have Socially Sparked® our lives. May 5th is National Teachers Day. Our teachers have risen to the challenge of creating a virtual education for their students during 2020 and the COVID-19 pandemic.

TEACHER TRIVIA

  • Political and educational leaders began discussions for a special day to honor teachers beginning in 1944
  • National Teachers Day dates to 1953 when Eleanor Roosevelt persuaded the 81st Congress to proclaim the Day
  • The official Teachers Day was celebrated on March 7th from 1980 until 1985. That is when The National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week as the first full week of May.
  • The National Education Association (NEA) then voted to change the official day to Tuesday of the same week in May as Teacher Appreciation Week

During these unprecedented times our teachers’ have risen to new heights in education by quickly adapting to the new normal that is all things virtual. We thank all teachers past and present for their contributions and devotion every day of the year and especially today. – Forever #SociallySparked  TWEET US @sosparkednews
