Legendary Zombies bassist Jim Rodford (Kinks, Argent) is dead (July 1941 – January 20, 2018). Rodford, a featured Socially Sparked News Spotlight story — was an incredible musician, loving husband and father and stand-up all-around guy.
We at Socially Sparked News are truly saddened by this sudden news. Rodford had a steller 2017 — a world tour with The Zombies including his son, Zombies’ Drummer Steve Rodford and a nomination with the band for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, to name a few. Currently legendary bassist Jim and The Zombies were playing in the United States and scheduled to play Carnegie Hall this March.
Jim Rodford, (born James Walter Rodford) hailed from the town of St. Albans, in Hertfordshire, England. His humble beginnings included playing in several local bands including The Bluetones. His many credits included playing bass guitar with The Swinging Blue Jeans, The Mike Cotton Sound, Argent, which he founded with cousin Ron Argent, The Kinks and The Zombies.
Yes, Jim Rodford Socially Sparked® our lives. He will be sorely missed by all.
