Vinyl lovers rejoice with over 550 new releases to choose from in honor of Record Store Day 2019. The annual event brings together independent record stores from around the world featuring a range of celebratory activities that offer special promotions, artist appearances, performances, give-a-ways and more.
Now in its 12th year, Record Store Day (RSD) began in April 2008 as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding nearly 1,400 independently owned record stores in the US, and thousands of similar stores internationally. Today there are Record Store Day participating stores on every continent except Antarctica.
This year Pearl Jam serves as the ambassador to Record Store Day. On the first RSD of April 19, 2008, Metallica played a live performance at Rasputin Music in San Francisco. Make sure to check with the local stores in your area to see what special festivities are happening to celebrate today.
The fabulous new releases to choose from range from boxed sets and limited editions to exclusives and reissues and feature artists as Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Cheap Trick and The Ramones, to name just a few. For a complete list and for a participating store near you click here.
