Celebrate World Press Freedom Day
Wednesday May 3rd is World Press Freedom Day. Each year since 1994 when the UN proclaimed the official day, the world celebrates the freedom of the press.
“On World Press Freedom Day, I call for an end to all crackdowns against journalists – because a free press advances peace and justice for all.” — António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General
The 2017 theme for World Press Day is Critical Minds for Critical Times: Media’s Role in Advancing Just and Political Societies. On this day, SOCIALLY SPARKED NEWS joins media around the globe in remembering the journalists who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Today — Especially — we celebrate the Freedom of the Press and “Real News.” — Abbe is Socially Sparked! @sosparkednews @asparks01
