EMERGING ARTISTS FROM AROUND THE WORLD SHOWCASE IN NYC

Mondo NYC ignites sparks in hip Williamsburg

NYC’s only global showcase festival presented live emerging music from multiple music genres from around the world in iconic NYC venues. The nighttime showcases of new and emerging artists were aplenty this year.  A few Artists we think are ‘Socially Sparked®’ are highlighted below.

Here’s a Socially Sparked® kinda’ band all the way from Adelaide, Australia who came over to make their debut in NYC and America during Mondo.NYC. Debut they did, playing at The Delancey last Wednesday eve October 16th. They’re called Wanderers – the duo of singer/guitarist Dusty Lee Stephensen and drummer Matt Birkin. They’ve got an infectious new single “Make It On My Own”. Take a listen:

Another Socially Sparked artist to watch stems from production guru and 2013 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee Hank Shocklee’s Shocklee Entertainment Label. Nico is a very young and talented 17-year-old girl from California. The now NYC-based singer held a much anticipated showcase performance last Friday at Upstairs at Pianos venue.

“Nico draws on desert blues, neo-soul and trip hop influences to create her own style of lush electro-acoustic, soulful down tempo grooves. You can expect unexpected arrangements, chill experimental textures and post-pop sentiments. Fans of PortisheadJames Blake, Fleetwood Mac and Erykah Badu dig this.” — Music Industry Veteran Fiona Bloom, Founder, The Bloom Effect

Another new female artist Apryll Aileen hails from the Maritimes/ Eastern Canada. She’s still getting her feet firmly planted on U.S. soil. Another emerging music artist to watch,  Apryll played at  Mondo for the first time last week and performed at Upstairs at Pianos last Friday, October 18th.
