Today is World Social Justice Day and this year’s focus is on closing the inequalities gap. An ever increasing recurring chant — equality as a whole is a key focus around the globe.

social justice day focuses on inequalities

In this new decade of social justice, people and organizations around the globe continue to speak up and advocate for equality — equal rights, immigration rights, equal pay, gender equality, human rights and more. They advocate to remove the barriers of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability. They advocate to eradicate poverty, homelessness, slavery and sex trafficking. They advocate for the environment, climate change and the oceans. The advocate for a better world!

PEOPLE and PLANET FIRST

On Social Justice Day 2020  the International Labour Organization (ILO) is asking you why the future of work should put people and planet first. They believe the only way we are going to achieve social justice, tackle inequality, reduce poverty and address climate change is if we put people and planet first.

To that end, the ILO wants everyone to tell them and policy makers around the world why it’s important to you! Here’s how:

Using the hashtag #MyFutureOurPlanet, record and post a 10 second video that lets the world know. Then tag 3 people and ask them to post what they think. Together we can make our voices heard for social justice, people and planet! What better way to be #SociallySparked® than expressing your opinion.

The ILO has released a video to kick start the campaign, which runs until World Environment Day on 5 June and the close of the ILO International Labour Conference (ILC) in June .
