Wear Blue Day

January 11, National Human Trafficking Awareness Day
Host:
Blue Campaign, Department of Homeland Security
Description: Get your favorite piece of blue clothing ready for January 11 and take a photo of yourself, friends, family, and colleagues wearing blue and post it on Twitter or Facebook with #WearBlueDay telling us why you wear blue. (Include info about the National Human Trafficking Hotline so all of your friends know that help is available!)

The Blue Campaign is the unified voice for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) efforts to combat human trafficking. Working in collaboration with law enforcement, government, non-governmental and private organizations, the Blue Campaign strives to protect the basic right of freedom and to bring those who exploit human lives to justice.

The Blue Campaign raises public awareness about human trafficking, leveraging partnerships to educate the public to recognize human trafficking and report suspected instances. The Campaign also offers training to law enforcement and others to increase detection and investigation of human trafficking, and to protect victims and bring suspected traffickers to justice. January awareness

It has never been as important as now to mentor our next generation of leaders. In honor of National Mentoring Month, we spotlight this important awareness initiative and several mentoring events happening throughout the month.

National Mentoring Month celebrates mentoring and the positive effect it can have on young lives.  The awareness campaign focuses national attention on the need for mentors, as well as how each of us—individuals, businesses, government agencies, schools, faith communities and nonprofits—can work together to increase the number of mentors to help ensure positive outcomes for our young people.
