Show Your Love Today for Giving Tuesday

It’s a Giving Tuesday state of mind. Show your love today.  Perhaps you have heard of #GivingTuesday (GT) the global generosity day that turned into a movement designated to give back and donate to nonprofit organizations, causes, your passions, your communities and/or your states and countries. Held annually on the first Tuesday in December, this year it falls on December 3rd.

It's a giving Tuesday state of mind

GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past seven years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. In July 2019, GivingTuesday spun out into its own organization, led by the co-founder Asha Curran as its CEO.

Falling on the first Tuesday after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the funding initiative offers a new tradition in generosity and global celebrations.

For some it’s a brilliant last ditch effort to gain funds for their organization or cause. For others it offers a way for the family to do good together. For municipalities and governing states, it’s more than that — turning the day into a large marketing campaign that can drive funds for organizations in their jurisdictions, and also indirectly drive the tourism dollar.

Municipalities and state governments embrace this day — it presents  an enormous opportunity to capitalize on their messaging throughout the year, and in some cases, an entire promotional campaign.

In the United States, organizations, businesses, cities and states gear up for the giving back day in a big way. Campaigns run the gamut from the local level to the global level.

There are many ways to give back and the GT non-profit offers resources for individuals and organizations to help jump start the process.. Share a story about a cause you care about; post to social media of your giving actions or take an #unselfie (you doing something selfless). Who knows, you may even win a cash prize of #10,000 from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for your charity. For resources on ways to give back visit: https://www.givingtuesday.org/individuals
