The lovable Peanuts Gang become the newest kids on the blocks today when the American leg of The Peanuts Global Arts Collective Tour officially unwraps its graffiti-esque art murals on the streets of New York City. The groundbreaking worldwide, public art initiative is designed to bring communities together through the universal themes ingrained in Peanuts — including hope, resilience, unrequited love — and more. Seven hand-picked renowned contemporary artists will display their larger than life artistic interpretations of the beloved Peanuts gang on the streets of New York, Paris, Seoul, San Francisco, Berlin, Tokyo and Mexico City.
The first piece from the global peanuts art collective was unwrapped Saturday on the facade of the Citizen Hotel in Paris by US artist Nina Chanel Abney. The other artists involved in the art collective include the American artist Kenny Scharf; Japan’s Tomokazu Matsuyama; the duo FriendsWithYou (Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III); and the collective AVAF.
